Featured Project: Baby Abuelita
"Baby Abuelita", a TV show for Latino and non-Latino preschoolers and their families, is designed to be an interactive experience for America’s newest generations. The adventures of the main characters —grandparents and grandchildren— are based on Hispanic-American and Latin American cultural elements set in a bilingual context attractive to both English and Spanish-speakers. Drawing from the cultures of the fastest growing demographic in the U.S., viewers are exposed to positive role models and important values (including attractive traditional and recent Hispanic songs). Both Latino and non-Latino viewers are entertained with a variety of adventures that promote positive attitudes about themselves and the diverse cultural heritage that makes up Latino America.
This unique TV show helps to integrate into the viewers' lives and imaginations a rich heritage that is weaving itself into the fabric of American life. Through age-appropriate adventures that explore both the American Hispanic world and Latin America, the show stimulates interaction among children, parents and grandparents by inviting them to get involved and to actively participate in the introduction and preservation of cultural roots that are quickly becoming a significant part of America’s cultural heritage.
